YETI in the England

Click here for the latest England information

YETI, here in the England, is supported by a group called 42. For those who have read a book called Hitch-Hikers Guide to the Galaxy, and have a wide imagination, you will perhaps understand why. We are an organization who work in a peer education/ community development mode and work with our own projects as well as well as supporting existing groups. As part of our work we are beginning to develop our own web site at www.project42.org.uk

Our work with YETI started in 1998 and then in 1999 with a live chat with Sweden from a group at Castle Camps youth club.

Here is a capture from the video chat. It is a group of Kate's friends. We started the youth club session with Kate running an IRC chat group with the junior age range followed by her friends joining us to chat with Sweden. Liechtenstein were also there but the UK girls seem to have something about Swedish boys that just kept them chatting.
After email requests for another chat 42 visited Foley House Youth Center in Newmarket, Suffolk for an overnight chat session. We were there from 10 p.m. on Friday evening to 8.00 a.m. on Saturday morning. The chat started with a link up with Liechtenstein (thanks for your help so late in the evening) and then continued with a variety of net- meeting and IRC chats. More of this on the 42 web site. The picture is of Kate and Haley sitting by the PC ready for chat (not the same Kate as at Linton!)
We also have published pages organized by Peter which are about his friends and their interests. They are all lower sixth students at Newmarket Upper School and spend some of their spare time learning html. The school web site can be found at www.rmplc.co.uk/sites/nusnkt

We hope to add to these pages in the future. We will show you the mobile chat system we have set up in an old land rover (12 seat van thing) and more about our activities. The most up to date pages will probably be found on the 42 web site, but then that is only one click away.

More up to date information can be found on the English section of the YETI pages.
