What do you guys think of an alumni corner? And I would be interested what is going on inside of Yeti. Is there a history with dates and all the things that happened (like ral life meetings and so on) on the webpage?

And if Peter is somewhere out there: I wanted to say Congratulations! Since the re-modelling of the structures and the youth centre I heard only positive things about the Kom,ma. Weiter so! Ok, sorry for the german part, but I just feel the urge to talk some german. I really forgot how to create complex sentences. YETIs never forget, you make a difference, take care -tobias

Hey folks! Maybe a few of you guys remember me. First Generation of YETIs. We were young, we had dreams. It was a wonderful time. I remember the week in Krakow and it was lots of fun. Who of the original Yetis is still active? I remember those nice afternoons in Langen with Moritz and Maren. We created those innovative names like yeti-pool and yeti-world and had the weirdest stories. I would love to hear something from some of the original Yetis. Katja, Leo and of course any young yetis that are left over.

Well. What do I do these days? At the moment I'm spending a semester as a foreign exchange student in Wisconsin/USA. And as Leo proposed in Krakow, I thought about a future in the computer industry. I work for Sunflowers Interactive Entertainment, maybe sombody heard of Anno 1602, or 1602 a.D., or Technomage or Anno 1503 which is coming out soon. I started out with Tennis, I'm madly in love with a wonderful girl and instead of being drafted for the german "bundeswehr" I'll go to Chile with the peace corps. that's what has happened in the last months. Just thought i should say hi and look how yeti is developing. Take care -tobias

Hi there everybody: I know I should be here at 10.30 (itīs 7.00) but I have to go to my village to see a childhood friend who caught malaria while away in Africa for a short time work. I am soory but I would feel really bad if I didn't go there as he is getting worst, and I cannot seem him until Thursady as we have evaluation meetings in my school and I cannot miss them. Obviously, any decision taken by you will be taken. Thank you very much. And I will get in touch with Alan via email as soon as I get back from Lapa.

seems to be lots of activity between some gorups chatting. I am about to look at proposals for summer programme and will post them in the English part of the site. Remember we agreed to make sure there was one page at least in each countries folder - thanks Leo for doing yours and best wishes Poland, I am sure yours will come right soon. Germany, Comma is going for more changes I hear.

Who wants to take the responsibility for the main site this year. It is getting harder to edit with just a dial-up connection... Any offers PLEASE.

Hey! Warm greetings to everyone in England now!! And to all the others who were left behind!

Alan- I think there is some problem with our polish web-page. It's still loading the old one- maybe you'd be kind enough to check it.

Sorry for that, but I had a big party yesterday and it's better for me to think and write polish now because of a slight headache... So, once more warm helos to everyone. Hope to meet soon

Hi Germany:

Wie Geht's? Gut? Our German is basic, as you can see. We are glad you enjoyed the pics from Lapa. It's a nice village (1.500 people) near Lisbon. Our youth group is an informal group, all the work is done voluntarily and we like to have some fun now and then. Two of us will be at the meeting in Burwell, so we will have time to talk. Looking forward to meet you all. We can explain more about the photos (places) and people. Alan (the webmaster)did all the photos and the site as well. Really nice isn't it. Thanks Alan. See you really soon during the meeting. Feel free to get in touch via email.

See you.

Hi Langen...

I think we talk in the planning meeting about best way to update.

My feeling is that perhaps we need to reduce the size of the "world" yeti pages to show just method and aims and thinks. But then be sure each country uses their areas (/germany1, /england. etc) to keep us all up to date with their group, area and country. It is something that groups do not do now but that I think they should.

We need a plan...

Is it possible to update the pages in short periods by the webmaster or can we do it by our own?

Hi Langen. Your email divert was set to: bhermann@rbg.informatik.tu-darmstadt.de

I have changed it to komma1@exmail.de so please tell Peter.

The taberna in Lapa belongs to Nuno's family and there was a holiday so we lived there. Nuno and Vania work there and I can say from experience that the food is real good. Perhaps you should not eat for two days befpre so you have enough room for it all.

Rogerio and Hugo will be at the worker meeting in February (in Burwell) and I hope we can make a world meeting for July.

Hi Oliver,

I am sure we can do some link re-design somewhere. Usually the links have been from the country page, but perhaps in our February meeting we decide to change the structure. I do think someone from your group should be with us to put your point.

Remember this planning meeting starts with people arriving here on February 21st. I hope we will also plan exchanes and a big residential - but if Langen is not here we will not know what you want and you will not influence our decisions. If Peter is not coming then I think you must contact Andi to see what he can do. I am sure it is not impossible for one of you to come with him.

Tell me more soon, Alan

Hi Langen... Yes of course I put your new link in the pages. Look at the news pages and your Langen page that already exists. So why no planning with us in England? I know there is no Ben - but then why when there is no leader there is no action? Someone should come to see us in February - I know we are English but we are really not that strange - the island does not float away - you will get home safe again. One of you really MUST come, even though you are not now in the money application. Contact Andi and come with him. We want to see you live in real life as well as in virtual life. I think I will have to come over there to see you. Who has a spare room for the night? I think your youth centre is really great. Just email me and get on the airplane. We all need to see you and talk about 2001. Ring my office - 00441638613011 Life is good. I gona email ollie to say I left this message.

A really good Christmas to all people reading this, and especially all the YETI and friends who have made this year such a great one for all of us.

Remember to check the news pages for your screen saver and your calendar for 2001 which has pictures of our 2000 fun in it.

Hope to see someone from each YETI group over here at the end of February so we can plan a really good 2001 year, and perhaps finish some evaluation of 2000.

Yes, I am back from my personal time off and great time in Lisbon with some Portuguese YETI. Thanks all.

Greg: Meetings, asl Alicja who will tell you meeting times for teamas adn why not make some with other YETI on a personal basis? Emails - well you know what people are , the best way is just to email them and say "Hey, you said you would" there are some addresses on an unlinked page (so people do not get lots of spam and stuff) If you do not know it, or Alicja forgets where I will email you the page.

So for Christmas I had the idea we should perhaps make a little colaboration game - who plays chess? We can play over the net and I can link the game download and instructions from YETI page - tell me if you are interested (but I can't play chess!!!!)

Also I got some java script for a "dots" game I will put on the pages. But you only play on your own so perhaps not what we really want.

Who wants to plan a Christmas holiday chat for YETI members? Tell me and I post possible times, or better still post times here that you can manage and people may agree and join you.

I will also try to find some time this weekend to write some letters. Second: soon I'll have a hard-wire and so I will be able to take part in discussions from my home. So, when will be the next meeting on web?? Lately there hasn't been many... Waiting impatiently Yours Greg

Some peolpe I have not heard from yet and Portugal are all at work/collecg/schooluniversity, so will not be there. I will be with them in person (real life) on Friday so at least we can talk about what is happening.

About the next meeting, I get home from work at 19.20 on Thursdays, so it will be a problem for me. I will try someone else to do it but I think it will be hard. Any chance of changing the time/day? I know it is only my problem but I would reaaly like to be there as well if possible. Thanks.

All the best,

Hi people...

Perhaps the teamers could write something on these pages please about YETI 3.

I know we should continue with a world meeting which is important and we should do the bi-lateral meetings with eachother. Perhaps we should have a theme for part of the year which would be to reflect on the happenings so far and to create a long term plan. If the world meeting were to be here in England I think it would be possible to place all these thaughts into a YETI video which could be part of the activity of this world meeting. The events during the year could lead up to this video where we prepare materials (where we start, where we are, where we go). Andi - please can you help us put it together? Do you think we can do this on the net or in a real meeting?

Also I think we could begin to make our aim to create personal visits. It seems that our groups get to know each other well. Should we be encouraging them to make their own personal visits to see each other? I think this is a good outcome from a project that helps people come together.

Virtual meetings - some people tell me they prefer to us ethe YETI web page chat because it is more reliable than net meeting with slow connections from some places. What do others think?

Perhaps when we hold meetings we should record decisions and actions and post on the web so people who were not with us can see what we decide to do. I think posting a whole chat does not work as it is sooooooo looong, I know I don't read them all.

Who is with YETI 3 then?

Post stuff here please and we can perhaps get things to happen.

Oli - I made an email with information and sent it ot you. I think all your questions were answered - and plaese let me know when you want to virtual chat as we can make it with net meeting or on these pages.

Tobias - it is good to hear from you and things are well - You should have been here in England to see Rainer at our horse racing meeting - betting his strange English money on the horses and wondering why he didn't get any back.

We all remember you and life is good.

Yes, it was a real good chat thanks - and thanks to Dietzenbach for joining us - we would really like to chat more with you.

Some of the days have been recorded on the web by Greg and I think he will be writing more next week.

Please take a look at the visit to the big house here in Burwell. We think it would make a real nice place for the world meeting of YETI3. I already paid the deposit to book the dates the same as YETI2 in FL.

If you dont like how it looks then fine - but it would be such a shame to decide we wanted to be there and find we could not book it. Please pass your comments to me and mention to Andi and others how you feel about it.

OK but there is a downside with the camera in Portugal - As soon as the English see how nice your weather is we will all be over there with you.

But how do we get to the airport? Today there are floods and there are no trains due to weather and the poos state of the tracks. OK so the Enlish infrastructure is breaking down. Time we got something done about this country (just a personal opinion you understand).

So it was good to hear from Portugal in real time - and I hope you get your money from Andi prety quick.

Hi there YETIS. We hope Poland has a great YETI time in Burwell (great place), check out the meeting place nearly opposite Burwell house. Nice atmosphere. We will be conferencing on the 2nd November, but about the video camera we are still trying to work it out. Maybe Alan can give us a hand in December when he comes over. We sent Andy an article we wrote to our local newspaper about the meeting in Schaan, written in Portyguese. It was a reaaly good time and the web photos/diary bring a lot of good memories back. Once again the meeting time on Thursdays is a bit difficult for us. YETI regards to you all. All the best,

Hi Ben,

We need you please....

ON November 2nd the Polish YETI come to meet the English YETI and will be conferencing from about mid afternoon to mid evening. Can you join us for an hour or so, we prefer to set time before as we will be at a youth work exhibition and can set a programme. I assume you have the password for the german YETI space, but if not please ask...Email us for more info....

Anyway, perhaps you should come over for a weekend. Buzz are doing really stupid cheap flights this winter and we are only 35 miles (OK a bigger number of k's but still the same dusatnce) from Stansted. Most of us have spare rooms you know. 35 miles is about 40/45 mins in the car. Go for your pages. Alan

Hi, really nice to see postings coming in such a big rush. Because I have visited Lisbon and Lapa twice through the project I am now coming to do my Christmas shopping there. I was also going to Frankfurt to try and see the Langen and Dietzenbach people (and Andi in offenbach) but I think time may not make it possible. As you may have seen the Polish group are here in England Nov 2 to 8. We will live chat from about 3pm gmt on 2nd up to about 8.30 pm, please will people email to plan times they meet us as I am sure if we do not all others will be there at the same time and then all will go and we will be chatting to an empty space. Thanks Leo for yout offer to meet us. So Lapa here I come for my own personal fun. CU between December 8 and 13 (and I will be at the cake shop down the stairs in Lispon at 1am every morning foe egg custards.... Really good to see messages from you all. Alan

YRTI ENGLAND came to Portugal and we had lots of fun in Lisbon and LAPA (our village) while learning lots of stuff, especially dancing and ppicking up grapes. We hope to meet the English group next year in England. It was a very rewarding experience, eventhough I had some work to do. It's all for now. Thanks a lot . BYEE GIL

It's in Portugueses but you can try to fing your country's name on it. Maybe Alan (the high-tech wizzard) will give me a hand. I (Rogerio) wont be able to be with you on Thursdays at 4 o'clock. Latest News...

You can now use the java chat pages on this site to communicate in real time. If you use the "2" link you will then be able to connect to a web page showing still pics of people chatting. Each yeti group can upload their pics using Ispy or similar software to provide a new still pic at, for example, two min intervals. The address to ftp the picture to is ftp.yeti.net org using your own country username and password (which I can supply to the main worker in each country). The file should always be called pic.jpg Go for it and try the new communications. The pics will remain on the site at the end of each meeting and give us something interesting to look at - so please remember when you log off to make sure you leave an interesting picture there. HI, Thanks for the nice comments about the web design changes - I will do much more - including make the search page work - as soon as I can but you may all remember we werew in Portugal for a week (Thanks to the Portuguese YETI it was a great time)and then I was in Ireland for two weeks for a holiday - but ended up looking at some programme ideas for an exchange there and wondering if we would end up with a southern Irish YETI group. We will see. Anyway the next thing for sorting id the Portuguese PC (nearly on the way I think), Poland and Portugal to visit England, The FL group to make arrange, ents to see the English group and perhaps some planning proposals for YETI 2001 big real meeting (we have a nice place in England if I can book it so whan I get back to work next Tuesday I will start all this - and check my emails - but right now I want an early night as I left Ireland at 4.00 this morning!!!! Hi, why is it all the English here - please ask others to say something.... Yes I thing we should meet oftem - what sometimes happens is people make their own private arrangements to see each other and then YETI plans bi-lateral (two country) excahnges and the big world meeting once a year. If we are to convince Europe (with a capital E and meaning those nice funding people) that we really do make a difference to the world and to European understanding we must make sure people know what we are doing and how we benefit. We should have much more material to help Andi prepare his reports and we should really shout very loud about what we do in our own countries. Let us get posting stuff on the web and showing what we want to lan for 2001. What about England for the "world" meeting. We should prepare proposals and post them at www.yeti-net.org/england, there is a blank space there now. In September we must fill it with our proposals and our agreed hosting of Poland. FL YETI - please make your private visita and we can perhaps show you what we plan for 2001 and you can tell us what you think. And also - there is now the live chat on this site. Please use it and tell people when you will be there. I will ask Andi if there is enough money to pay to remove the adverts from it as I feel we should not be force fed information we do nat ask for. est wishes, Alan

I have a list of things liked by two of the English group:

Vally swimming and forest.

Abtwil santis waterpark.

Alpamare waterpark.

Filzbach toboggon.

Gaflei walking, hiking tour, furstensteig.

Also they ask - is there horse riding, water skiing and beaches/sun (I presume they do not mean sea beaches)

So perhaps that is the answer?

Hi to all of the YETIs. In case you didn't hear it yet let me say, that I have quit my job in the Youthcentre. Yes - this also means, that I will no longer be with the YETI-project, which I really feel sad about. But there is no chance to be with this wonderful project when I start my new work (which is surely an IT job). Hope YETI will still be alive and well and growing. Alan from England kindly said that he will take over the technical advisory which was done by me in the past. Like running the server etc. Lets give him a great hand for that. He also promised me, that he will keep an eye on the YETI, so that it still will be working good (the homepage). All the other YETI-related stuff has to be done by the YETIs. Like it was before - and I am sure, that after the meeting in FL it really will get more and more power.

Well, what more can I say than:
